FAQ
Export Go: Simplifying Your Global Trade Journey
in Export and Import.
1. What is the EUR.1 certificate and Certificate of Origin?
-
The EUR.1 certificate is a preferential certificate of origin issued by the Customs Department of the State Revenue Service, while the Certificate of Origin is a non-preferential certificate of origin issued by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These certificates are often requested to reduce import duties in the destination country, confirm the origin of goods, and comply with trade policy measures (anti-dumping, quantitative restrictions, tariff quotas, etc.).
2. How long does it take to process the EUR.1 certificate?
-
The EUR.1 certificate can be processed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in Latvia. Processing takes 1 to 2 business days from the moment all necessary documents are submitted.
3. How long does it take to process the Certificate of Origin?
-
Certificates of Origin are issued in order at the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. If no additional information or in-depth research is required for the Certificate of Origin, it is typically issued within a few days. However, if additional information is needed, a decision is made within 14 working days from the day of application.
4. Is it possible to obtain the EUR.1 certificate and Certificate of Origin after the export has already occurred?
-
Both the EUR.1 certificate and the Certificate of Origin can be obtained "retrospectively" for almost 2 years after the export has occurred. In such cases, additional documents may be required to confirm the transaction and transportation.
5. What are the advantages of being an Authorized Exporter?
-
A significant benefit for exporters who frequently export goods of origin is the savings of both money and time. Customs authorities can grant the authorization to self-declare the origin of goods for any value. This means that the trader is not required to obtain a certificate of origin for each shipment from the customs authorities. Instead, there is the option to prepare an origin declaration on the invoice. In simple terms, it's like having an "automated EUR.1 certificate."
6. What is required to apply for the services offered by "Export Go"?
Applications for the services can be submitted by:
-
any registered trader or private individual in Latvia,
-
an unregistered trader in Latvia who has purchased goods in Latvia and wishes to export these products to other markets,
-
a foreign private individual (in this case, an EORI number is required).
7. Is a cooperation agreement necessary to process export certificates and/or statuses?
-
No cooperation agreement is required for the processing of certificates, consultations, and representation of interests. In such cases, a Power of Attorney is sufficient. A cooperation agreement is necessary for obtaining various types of company statuses. Standard agreements are pre-prepared, and the coordination process is convenient and straightforward.
8. Are better prices available for regular clients?
-
Yes, regular clients are eligible for individual pricing based on volume and/or frequency. For regular clients individual pricing is applicable to the following services: certificate processing, transportation organization (logistics), and consultations.
